The Village Grind Coffee & Tea Co., is located at 19 N. Main St. in Oswego, Illinois. It sits in the heart of the downtown area surrounded by ancient oak trees, historical homes, and quaint, specialty shops. It is a morning staple for the locals on their way to work, as well as an afternoon treat for the kids on their way home from school. Moms gather here, and couples relax in the back room at a quiet table. Newspapers, magazines and books are scattered throughout for your enjoyment. There is outdoor seating as well, in the screened in porch.
As you walk in the door, you can't help but inhale the wonderful aromas of the freshly brewed coffees. There are at least 5, different, flavored coffees available to add to your morning lattes or mochas, including French vanilla, pumpkin spice, and cinnamon toast. The mocha supremes are a house specialty and come in a variety of flavors. Frappacchinos are also available, as well as an assortment of hot and cold teas.
The pastries, cakes and pies are made fresh daily and vary from time to time. Some of the favorites include cherry pie, streusels, angel food cake and pumpkin cream pie. Bagels with homemade, cream cheese spreads, muffins and cookies line the shelves too. Quiche is served with a side of seasonal fruit and a muffin, for those hungrier folks, as well as bageldogs and homemade soups at the lunch hour. In summer, there is a gelato stand in the corner serving a variety of the creamy treats, from chocolate, lemon, and pistachio to strawberry and bubble gum. In fall and winter, an oatmeal bar takes its place. You can add cranberries, nuts and brown sugar to customize your meal.
The gift shop provides costumers with hand crafted jewelry, trinkets, and locally made furniture. During the Christmas holidays, you can find ornaments, decorations, candles and stocking stuffers. This is a great place to pick up that last minute hostess gift, or teacher's gift. Gift cards are also available, and come in the form of coffee coins.
The Village Grind is open MON – WED: 6 – 6, THURS: 6 – 8, FRI: 6 – 6, Saturdays: 7 – 5, and SUN: 9 – 2.
