People are becoming more health conscious as the majority of the population ages. The baby boomer generation is looking for almost anything that will keep them feeling well. As the popularity of good health products increases, they are advertised on the TV and younger people are buying in to living a healthy life. As most of the adults are now trying to eat healthy and stay healthy, people are always looking for things that are homeopathic in nature and that other people have used for centuries. A noted product of all of this searching is the green tea leaf.

Green tea leaves have not been recognized by the FDA as medicinal, but it does act as one for certain things like diarrhea and indigestion. It is also great for use as a mouth wash and plaque control. The green tea leaf is also showing promise in preventing and stopping certain cancers, particularly stomach cancer. There aren’t many drugs that can do all of this and if there were, it would be the most popular drug ever. As a tea leaf, it is extremely popular anyways. The green tea leaf is also noted for working against other cancers such as; colon, intestinal, rectum, breast, lung, and pancreatic cancer.

In China, an official study was commissioned to study the green tea leaf and the results of the study showed that women who drink tea every day had a thirty three percent drop in cancers over women who didn’t drink it everyday. This study also concluded a forty three percent drop in women getting rectal cancer. It also showed a forty seven percent drop in pancreatic cancer in women who drink the tea daily. In Japan, a study of over four hundred women showed that the chances of recurrence of the cancer was very low in women who started drinking five cups of green tea every day.

The green tea leaf has certain ingredients that make it a popular choice. It wouldn’t be popular if there wasn’t caffeine. Caffeine is a stimulant that gets us going in the morning and keeps us going throughout the day. When taken in moderation the tea also settles the stomach, making people feel awake and alert without that feeling of jitteriness people get when drinking coffee.

Green tea and black tea is taken from the same tea plant. The biggest difference between the two leaves is in the way that they are processed. Essentially green leaf teas are in Asian countries of China and Japan, whereupon the black teas are processed in India and Sri Lanka and Kenya. The Asian countries have included green tea in their diets for thousands of years and the world is now starting to notice the major benefits.
