Hot Videos, Great Beer & Much Needed Coffee Under One Roof

I'm in coffee. I've worked, managed, and brewed coffee for a number of years. From Starbucks to local shops and everything in between, i've seen the coffee scene. I've even covered my forearm with a coffee tattoo. Needless to say, I love coffee. And i'm always looking for new ways to drink coffee in new places, but in the last few years i've run into a local coffee shop that has enchanted me into coming back for more and bringing my friends. I'm talking about Stardust Coffee & Video in Winter Park, near Leu Gardens. I was first introduced to the location by the biking community (bicycles, not motorcycles) and fell in love with it ever since.

The first time i stopped in here, it was by sheer coincidence. Actually, it is the end spot of critical mass, which I participate in regularly. During the first few rides, I had broken off from the crowd, as a friend and local party house was near the finish area. After about the third ride, they had moved, so I stayed with the crowd and rode to the finish. Nearby was a 7-11, where nearly everyone had stopped in for cheap beer, but a friend I was riding with went into stardust. When I followed her in, I was awestruck: Coffee machine, import beers, and vegetarian/vegan fare. As well as lucking out on such a fine location, stardust overflows quick with bikers after the ride. (A word of caution: On the last friday, around 6pm, this place will overflow. Plan you day accordingly if you want to be served within a half hour) When I got to the counter, I was in view of their beer fridge, as well as their menu. I was recommended the chili (which I will also recommend) and settled with an americano, as I was not looking for a heavy drink just after a ride. After placing my order and seating myself, I looked around to take in the location. After walking into the store, it's broken into three sections: directly in front of you is the front counter, with the kitchen behind it in a closed room. To the left, is the stage where local bands play, as well as a number of tables. To the right, more tables, along with a side counter for beer/liquor, as well as more tables and their movie selection. A large range of movies, many foreign films, mostly never heard of (by me, anyway) films that can be purchased at the counter as well. Even the tables caught my eyes, as they were recycled doors. As I was walking back to my table, my food was ready; I however, was not ready for my food. OH. MAN. I have never had vegetarian chili this good (it can be made vegan by removing the sour cream) or in such portions. I've been back since and had several selections, all delicious (if you get the tater tots, they're hand made, so they take 20 minutes) and enjoyed many different beverages as well. Their beer selection is impressive, their liquor knowledge impeccable, and their barista skills refreshingly sharp. I've enjoyed live acts on their stage, a movie or two inside, and a few drinks outside, when weather permits.

Great drinks, great food, and a change of scenery in interior offerings is what's brought me back to this location over and over again. I've brought friends, i've made friends, and most importantly, i've enjoyed myself. Having a relaxing day at a coffee shop is what attracted me to the business, and everytime I get caught in a 7 person like at Starbucks, I remember why.
